Depeche Mode are a rare band, carefully walking the fine line between mainstream and alternative audiences, without ever compromising their sound. Having formed in 1980, in Basildon, Essex, Depeche Mode are one of the longest running and most influential bands to have emerged from the then blossoming New Wave scene. This tribute to them is a testament to that, with bands from a wide array of musical genres paying homage to Depeche Mode.
45 singles in the UK Charts, as well as one US and two UK number 1 albums Depeche Mode are no strangers to fame, yet they never chased the mainstream, the music always sounds unique next to the squeaky clean pop they sit next to in the charts.
